Conditions for submitting an abstract

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Submitting your abstract to a Session

Please review the full list of sessions first at http://iufro2017.com/call-for-abstracts. The five themes of the IUFRO Strategy (http://www.iufro.org/discover/strategy/) and the topics of the IUFRO All-Division meetings define the framework of the scientific program. All sessions have been assigned to one of these topics.

When submitting an abstract you will be asked to indicate whether your abstract should be considered for one of the general congress topics or one of the five All-Division meetings. You will also be asked to indicate your 1st and 2nd session preferences. Note, if your abstract does not appear to be related to any of the sessions listed, select the option “open session” under the relevant topic. This will not disadvantage the evaluation of your abstract, and all accepted abstracts will be allocated to an appropriate congress session.

Finally, you will need to indicate whether you are submitting an abstract for an oral or poster presentation. Given space limitations, authors submitting an abstract for an oral session may be requested to present a poster instead. Authors should be aware that poster presentations are considered to be as important as oral presentations.

Note:
  1. An abstract must be submitted by the person who will give the presentation at the congress.
  2. All presenting authors (for oral or poster presentations) are required to register for the Congress by 1 June 2017 – failure to do so will result in their presentation being deleted from the program.
  3. Registration will only be possible online. It will open at the end of February 2017 and early bird registration closes on 1 June 2017.

Information provided in an Abstract:

Together with the abstract you will be asked to provide the names, organizational affiliation and email address of each author.
The abstract will be used by the Congress Scientific Committee (CSC) to evaluate the scientific content of the proposed presentation and assign it to a session.

Note: It is possible to modify a submitted abstract up until the deadline for abstract submission of 15th December. To do this you will need to open the abstract you wish to modify and select “withdraw”. This will allow you to make any changes necessary.

Selection Criteria

All abstracts will be reviewed and evaluated by session organizers, and by members of the CSC. Primary selection criteria include scientific quality and the significance and relevance of the topic to the general themes of the IUFRO Strategy or to the All-Divisions. Abstracts will be evaluated after the submission deadline, 15th December, 2016. Acceptance decisions will be communicated at the beginning of March 2017.

Publication

Your abstract will be provided in the Abstract Book and listed in the Congress Program. Congress proceedings with full papers will not be published and, hence, session organizers are encouraged to explore alternative publication options (books, special issues of journals, etc.) for papers and/or posters presented in their sessions.
