How to submit an abstract

Applications via fax, e-mail, etc. will not be accepted!
Notification about acceptance or refusal will be sent out May 2015.

Language

Abstracts may only be submitted and presented in English.

Size, content

The abstract is limited to 3.000 characters incl. spaces. A maximum of two graphics (figure and/or table) may be uploaded. Each graphics reduces the maximum character count by 400. Modification of abstracts that are already registered is possible until the submission deadline. Accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement issue of Gait & Posture.

Research area

Authors are encouraged to classify their contribution to one of the following categories: Pathologies, Outcome study, Methods and Models, Prosthetics/Orthotics, Foot and Ankle, Trunk/Upper limb. Authors have the option to classify their contribution to “other topics”, if the abstract cannot be assigned to one of the named categories.

The abstract sections must be arranged in the following order: Research Question, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, References. The abstract must contain all relevant data and figures. To ensure anonymous handling of the abstract, please do not mention any names of the authors or of the institution or its location in the text/paper.

Rules & regulations

The abstract must only be submitted once to once category within the congress. The presenter must be listed first. The number of authors including the presenter is limited to 6 people. The presenter is responsible for compliance with ethics regulations and the law on animal protection.

Presentation type

The scientific committee will decide on acceptance and the presentation type (oral or poster). In the submission process authors may indicate their preference for poster or oral presentation.

Oral Presentation

Accepted oral presentations must be submitted on-site as a digital presentation on a CD-ROM or a USB data stick at least one hour before the presentation. Data projectors are available in all lecture halls. Individual notebooks cannot be used. Exclusive presentation format is Microsoft Power Point (version 97 onwards) for Windows. Please note incompatibilities between Apple-Macintosh and the operating system of Windows! Videos must be stored within the submitted data files.

Posters

Accepted poster presentations will be presented on poster boards allowing format 841 x 1189 mm upright. Additionally all contributions will be presented orally in three parallel rapid poster sessions of 2mins (sharp) presentation time each (3 PPT-slides). The same regulations regarding format and submission apply as for regular oral presentations.

Publication

Abstracts of all accepted contributions will be published in Gait & Posture. Results that have already been published or that have been presented elsewhere cannot be submitted. All authors listed must give their consent regarding the abstract text, publication in the abstract volume also serving as congress proceedings.

Please be aware that all congress participants including speakers need to register for the meeting. Please visit the website www.esmac2015.com and use the link „registration“. The early bird registration deadline is June 1st, 2015. Detailed information will be available on the website.

Awards

ESMAC will offer both a best paper and a best poster price. Details will follow.
